BBQ Deboned Jumbo Quail Pie

4 servings | prep: 30 | Bake: 25 mins

Ingredients:

  • Hoekkraaltjie Whole Deboned Quail

  • 125 ml Tomato Sauce (All Gold)

  • 125 ml Chutney (Mrs Balls)

  • 60 ml Soya Sauce (Kikkoman)

  • Portuguese Spice to your taste

  • Puff Pastry (I used Today Original Puff Pastry)

Method:

  • Pre-heat oven to 180°C and grease an oven dish,

  • Cook (braai) Hoekkraaltjie Whole Deboned Quail low over high heat coals until seared / browned, 

  • Chop the meaty bits into smaller pieces, cut off the wings for stock and the drummets can be enjoyed as a pre-meal snack!

  • Mix chopped quail pieces with tomato sauce, chutney and soya sauce, 

  • Place puff Pastry over the mixture and decorate as desired, 

  • Use melted butter / egg white for browning,

  • Bake in the oven for 20 - 25 mins. 

This is definitely a family and Hoekkraaltjie team favorite!
